1. Park your Jeep in a safe location and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels to prevent the Jeep from rolling.
2. Locate the steering column adjustment bolts. There are two bolts located on the underside of the steering column, near the firewall.
3. Loosen the steering column adjustment bolts. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts, but do not remove them completely.
4. Turn the steering wheel until it is centered. This will ensure that the steering column is properly aligned when you tighten the bolts.
5. Retighten the steering column adjustment bolts. Use the wrench to tighten the bolts until they are snug.
6. Test the steering column. Turn the steering wheel left and right to make sure that it is tight and free of play.
If the steering column is still loose, you may need to replace the steering column bearing. This is a more difficult repair, so you may want to take your Jeep to a mechanic if you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself.
