Step 1: Prepare the vehicle
1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface and turn off the engine.
2. Apply the parking brake and chock the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
3. Raise the rear of the vehicle with a jack and place it on jack stands to support it securely.
4. Remove the lug nuts from the rear wheels and take off the wheels.
Step 2: Remove the brake caliper
1. Locate the brake caliper on the back of the wheel hub. It is held in place by two bolts.
2. Use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the caliper bolts.
3. Once the bolts are removed, carefully lift the caliper off the rotor.
4. Be careful not to spill any brake fluid that may be in the caliper.
Step 3: Remove the old rotor
1. Once the caliper is removed, you can see the rotor behind it.
2. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the brake pads out of the caliper bracket.
3. Be careful not to damage the brake pads.
4. Once the brake pads are removed, you can see the rotor more clearly.
5. There may be a few bolts holding the rotor in place. Remove these bolts if they are present.
6. Once all the bolts are removed, you can pull the rotor off the wheel hub.
Step 4: Install the new rotor
1. Before installing the new rotor, clean the wheel hub with brake cleaner to remove any dirt or grease.
2. Place the new rotor on the wheel hub and secure it with the bolts that you removed earlier.
3. Tighten the bolts securely.
Step 5: Reinstall the brake caliper
1. Carefully place the brake caliper back onto the rotor.
2. Insert the caliper bolts and tighten them securely.
3. Make sure that the brake pads are properly seated in the caliper bracket.
Step 6: Reinstall the wheels
1. Put the wheels back on the vehicle and replace the lug nuts.
2. Tighten the lug nuts until they are snug.
3. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
Step 7: Test the brakes
1. Start the engine and pump the brake pedal several times until you feel firm pressure.
2. Test the brakes by driving the vehicle slowly and applying the brakes.
3. Make sure that the brakes work properly and that there are no 異常.
Your 2001 Town and Country's rear brake rotors have now been successfully replaced.
