2. Open the Trunk:
Open the trunk of your SL500.
3. Remove the trunk liner:
Locate and remove the trunk liner by gently pulling it up from the edges until it comes off. This may require some force, but be careful not to damage any clips or fasteners.
4. Access the Taillight Assembly:
Once the trunk liner is removed, you will see the taillight assembly. It is located on the side of the trunk, behind the taillight lens.
5. Remove the Taillight Assembly Bolts:
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the bolts that secure the taillight assembly to the vehicle. There should be two or three bolts, depending on the model year.
6. Disconnect the Electrical Connector:
Once the bolts are removed, gently pull the taillight assembly out from the vehicle. Be careful not to tug on the wires. Disconnect the electrical connector that is attached to the back of the taillight assembly.

After disconnecting the electrical connector, you can remove the old taillight assembly from the vehicle.
8. Install the New Taillight:
Take the replacement taillight assembly and position it in place. Make sure it aligns properly with the mounting points.
9. Reconnect the Electrical Connector:
Connect the electrical connector to the new taillight assembly.
10. Secure the Taillight Assembly:
Insert the bolts back into the mounting points and tighten them using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Make sure the taillight assembly is securely attached.
11. Replace the Trunk Liner:
Reinstall the trunk liner by carefully placing it back in its original position.
12. Test the Taillight:
Turn on the headlights or brake lights to ensure that the new taillight is functioning properly.
13. Close the Trunk:
Once you have confirmed that the taillight is working, close the trunk.
