How do you replace rear brakes on a 2005 dodge grand caravan?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Jack and jack stands

- Lug wrench

- Socket wrench set

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Brake cleaner

- New brake pads and rotors (if necessary)

- Caliper grease

- C-clamp

- Safety glasses

1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Chock the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.

3. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and place jack stands under the frame. Make sure the jack stands are stable before proceeding.

4. Remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheels.

5. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the brake caliper off the rotor. Be careful not to damage the brake caliper or rotor.

6. Inspect the brake pads. If they are worn down to less than 1/4 inch, they need to be replaced. Also inspect the rotors for damage. If they are scored or cracked, they need to be replaced.

7. If you are replacing the brake pads, use a C-clamp to compress the caliper piston. This will make it easier to install the new brake pads.

8. Install the new brake pads and/or rotors. Make sure the brake pads are seated properly in the caliper and that the rotors are properly seated on the hub.

9. Reattach the brake caliper and tighten the lug nuts.

10. Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.

11. Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the new brake pads.

12. Test the brakes before driving. Make sure the brakes feel firm and that the vehicle stops smoothly.

If you are unsure about how to replace the rear brakes on your 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, it is best to consult a qualified mechanic.
