The tie rod end connects the steering rack to the wheel hub, and it allows the steering wheel to turn the wheels. If the tie rod end is broken, the steering wheel will still turn, but the wheels will not respond. This can cause the vehicle to veer off the road, or even flip over.
In addition, a broken tie rod end can cause the tire to come off of the vehicle while it is being driven, leading to catastrophic consequences.
If you suspect that your tie rod end is broken, you should have it inspected by a qualified mechanic immediately. Do not drive the vehicle until it has been repaired.
