- Replacement automotive belt
- 5/8 inch wrench or socket
- Screwdriver
- Pliers
Step 2: Locate the air conditioning compressor pulley
- The air conditioning compressor pulley is typically located on the front of the engine, near the top.
- It is usually the largest pulley on the engine.
- If you can't find the compressor pulley, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.
Step 3: Remove the belt tensioner
- The air conditioning compressor pulley is tensioned by a belt tensioner
- To remove the belt tensioner, use a wrench or socket to loosen the nut that holds the tensioner in place.
- Once the nut is loose, use a screwdriver to pry the tensioner out of the way.
Step 4: Remove the belt from the air conditioning compressor pulley
- Once the belt tensioner is out of the way, you can remove the belt from the air conditioning compressor pulley.
- To do this, simply use a wrench or socket to loosen the bolt that holds the pulley in place.
- Once the bolt is loose, you can remove the pulley from the engine.
Step 5: Install the replacement belt
- To install the replacement belt, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove the old belt.
- Make sure that the belt is properly seated in all of the pulleys before you tighten the bolt that holds the pulley in place.
Step 6: Test the air conditioning system
- Once you have installed the replacement belt, you should test the air conditioning system to make sure that it is working properly.
- To do this, turn on the engine and set the air conditioner to the coldest setting.
If the air conditioning system is working properly, you should feel cool air coming from the vents.
