Step 1
Open the hood of your Oldsmobile Aurora and locate the serpentine belt. The serpentine belt is located on the front of the engine and goes around several pulleys.
Step 2
There is an air vent duct attached above the radiator by a bolt behind the lower belt. Remove this plastic air duct to provide room to work.
Step 3
Loosen the spring loaded belt tensioner by inserting a 3/8" or 10 mm breaker bar through the bolt on the outside edge of the tensioner and pulling upwards. While holding the tensioner back, remove the old belt from the tensioner.
Step 4
Remove the old belt from the rest of the pulleys.
Step 5
Install the new belt onto the tensioner pulley first, then wrap the belt around the other pulleys.
Step 6
Reattach the air vent duct.
Step 7
Have someone hold their foot on the brake and start the car in park. This will automatically tighten the belt by spinning all of the pulleys. Then, stop the engine and double-check the belt to ensure that the tension is correct.
