Instructions
1. Disconnect the battery. This is a safety precaution to prevent any electrical shocks while you are working on the wiring.
2. Locate the towing socket wiring loom. The wiring loom is usually located near the spare tire well or under the rear bumper.
3. Connect the towing socket wiring loom to the towing socket. Match the colors of the wires on the wiring loom to the corresponding terminals on the towing socket.
4. Secure the towing socket. Use the screws and nuts that came with the towing socket to secure it to the vehicle.
5. Route the wiring loom to the battery. Route the wiring loom along the frame of the vehicle and to the battery.
6. Connect the fuse holder to the battery. Use crimp ring terminals to connect the fuse holder to the battery positive terminal.
7. Install the fuse. Insert the 15A fuse into the fuse holder.
8. Test the towing socket. Connect a trailer to the towing socket and test the lights and turn signals to ensure that they are working properly.
9. Secure the wiring loom. Use split loom tubing to secure the wiring loom to the frame of the vehicle.
Additional Tips
- Make sure that the towing socket is properly grounded to the vehicle's chassis.
- If you are not comfortable wiring the towing socket yourself, you can have it done by a qualified mechanic.
