1. Prepare the Vehicle: Park the vehicle on a flat surface and apply the parking brake. Engage the parking brake to keep the car secure while you are removing and replacing the tail lights.
2. Open Trunk Access: Open the trunk of your SLK. Locate the plastic covers inside the trunk on the side where you will be replacing the tail light.
3. Remove Trunk Panel Cover: Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the plastic cover in the trunk. Set aside the cover.
4. Locate Tail Light Assembly: Once the cover is removed, locate the tail light assembly. It is held in place by a series of bolts and screws.
5. Remove Tail Light Assembly: Use a socket set to loosen and remove the bolts and screws securing the tail light assembly to the vehicle's body. Be careful not to drop the screws.
6. Disconnect Wiring Harness: Once the bolts are removed, carefully disconnect the wiring harness that powers the tail light. Take care not to damage the wiring.
7. Remove Tail Light: Gently remove the old tail light assembly from the vehicle. Set aside the old assembly.
8. Install Replacement Assembly: Take your new tail light assembly and position it in place. Insert and secure all bolts and screws that you removed earlier to mount the assembly firmly.
9. Reconnect Wiring: Carefully reconnect the wiring harness to the new tail light assembly. Ensure all connections are secure.

11. Reattach Trunk Panel Cover: Reattach the plastic cover you previously removed from the trunk, ensuring it is securely in place.
