The socket wrench and universal joint adapter, also known as a deep well socket, is the primary tool used to remove the front tires of John Deere lawn tractors.
Here's how to use it:
1. Park your lawn tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the lug nuts on the front wheels. There will typically be four or five lug nuts on each wheel.
3. Place the appropriate size socket (usually 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch) on the end of the universal joint adapter.
4. Attach the universal joint adapter to the socket wrench.
5. Position the socket over one of the lug nuts and turn the wrench counterclockwise to loosen the lug nut.
6. Continue to loosen all of the lug nuts on the front wheels.
7. Once all the lug nuts are loosened, remove them completely by hand.
8. Pull the front tires off of the hubs.
That's it! You have successfully removed the front tires from your John Deere lawn tractor.
