1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Wait at least 3 minutes to allow the transmission fluid to cool down.
3. Open the hood of your car.
4. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually located on the driver's side of the engine, near the back of the engine block.
5. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
6. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid dipstick tube.
7. Pull out the dipstick again and check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "Cold" and "Hot" marks on the dipstick.
8. If the fluid level is low, add enough automatic transmission fluid to bring the level up to the "Full" mark on the dipstick.
9. Reinsert the dipstick and close the hood of your car.
