- Park the car on level ground and apply the parking brake.
- Locate the CV joint that needs to be replaced.
- Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that is closest to the CV joint.
- Jack up the car and place a jack stand under the frame of the car, near the wheel that you are working on.
- Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
- pry the CV boot away from the housing using a pry bar.
- Use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the bolts holding the CV joint to the driveshaft.
- Pull the CV joint out of the housing.
- Before inserting new, pack it with fresh grease.
- Insert the CV joint into the housing.
- Replace the bolts that hold the CV joint to the driveshaft.
- Tighten the lug nuts and lower the car back down.
- Test drive the car to make sure that the CV joint is working properly.
