How do you reset the brake pad warning after changing pads on a BMW?

Here is a general guide to reset the brake pad warning on a BMW after changing the pads;

1. Gather your tools. You will need a flat-head screwdriver, a Phillips-head screwdriver, a pair of pliers, and a scan tool.

2. Park your BMW in a safe location and turn off the engine.

3. Engage the parking brake if it’s not electronically engaged.

4. Open the hood of your BMW and locate the brake fluid reservoir. It is usually a clear plastic container with a black cap.

5. Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir.

6. Use the flat-head screwdriver to depress the float sensor in the brake fluid reservoir.

7. Hold the float sensor down for about 10 seconds.

8. Release the float sensor and replace the cap on the brake fluid reservoir.

9. Close the hood of your BMW.

10. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.

11. Use the pliers to press the reset button on the scan tool.

12. The brake pad warning light should turn off.

13. Start the engine and test the brakes.

If you are still seeing the brake pad warning light after resetting, you may need to have your BMW diagnosed by a qualified mechanic.
