Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Warm up the Engine
- Start the scooter and let it run for a few minutes to warm up the oil and make it easier to drain.
Step 2: Locate the Oil Drain Plug
- The oil drain plug is located at the bottom of the engine, on the right-hand side. It is usually a 17 mm bolt.
Step 3: Place the Oil Drain Pan
- Position the oil drain pan underneath the oil drain plug to catch the old oil.
Step 4: Remove the Oil Drain Plug
- Use the 17 mm socket wrench to loosen and remove the oil drain plug. Be careful as the oil may be hot.
Step 5: Let the Oil Drain
- Allow all of the old oil to drain into the oil drain pan. This may take several minutes.
Step 6: Replace the Oil Drain Plug
- Once all of the old oil has drained out, screw the oil drain plug back into place and tighten it securely with the socket wrench.
Step 7: Remove the Oil Filter Cover
- The oil filter cover is located near the oil drain plug, it's usually black or silver in color. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen and remove the oil filter cover screws.
Step 8: Remove the Oil Filter
- Remove the old oil filter by gripping it and turning it counterclockwise until it comes off. Be careful not to spill any oil.
Step 9: Install the New Oil Filter
- Check the new oil filter to ensure that it is the correct size and type. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new filter. Screw on the new oil filter by hand until it is snug, then tighten it an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn with the oil filter wrench. Do not overtighten.
Step 10: Add New Oil
- Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine through the oil filler hole, usually located near the top of the engine. Add 0.8 to 1 liter of 10W-40 synthetic oil, depending on the oil capacity of your scooter.
Step 11: Check the Oil Level
- Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "min" and "max" marks on the dipstick. Add more oil if necessary.
Step 12: Start the Scooter and Check for Leaks
- Start the scooter and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks from the oil drain plug or oil filter. If you see any leaks, tighten the drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
Step 13: Properly Dispose of Old Oil and Filter
- Properly dispose of the old oil and oil filter according to your local regulations.
By following these steps, you can safely and easily change the oil on your Baccio 150 scooter. Remember, regular oil changes are essential to maintain the health of your scooter engine.
