How do you replace the headlight bulb located on a 2002 Dodge Durango?

Replacing Headlight

Time: 10-15 minutes

Tools: Phillips Head Screwdriver, 9/32" Socket with 3" extension

Parts:

- Headlight bulb (9007)

Instructions:

1. Park your Durango in a well-lit area and turn off the engine. Allow the vehicle to cool if it has been running.

2. Open the hood of your Durango. The hood release lever is located on the lower left side of the driver's footwell.

3. Locate the headlight bulb cover on the back of the headlight housing. The headlight bulb cover is held in place by a single Phillips head screw.

4. Remove the Phillips head screw that holds the headlight bulb cover in place. Set the screw aside in a safe place.

5. Remove the headlight bulb cover from the headlight housing.

6. Locate the headlight bulb socket inside the headlight housing. The headlight bulb socket is a black plastic housing with a metal contact on the bottom.

7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlight bulb socket. To do this, simply press down on the tab on the electrical connector and pull it straight off the socket.

8. Remove the old headlight bulb from the socket. To do this, simply turn the bulb counterclockwise and pull it straight out of the socket.

9. Insert the new headlight bulb into the socket. Make sure that the metal contacts on the bulb are aligned with the contacts on the socket.

10. Turn the new headlight bulb clockwise until it is secure.

11. Reconnect the electrical connector to the headlight bulb socket.

12. Replace the headlight bulb cover.

13. Replace the Phillips head screw that holds the headlight bulb cover in place.

14. Close the hood of your Durango.

Tips:

- When replacing the headlight bulb, be careful not to touch the glass of the bulb with your fingers. The oils from your skin can cause the bulb to burn out prematurely.
