- New fork oil (SAE 15W or 20W is typically recommended)
- Fork oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Rags
- Wrench set
- Allen wrench set
Instructions:
__Step 1: Remove the front wheel.__
- Jack up the front of the bike and place it on a secure stand.
- Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheel.
__Step 2: Drain the old fork oil.__
- Locate the drain plug on the bottom of each fork leg.
- Place a fork oil drain pan under the drain plug and remove the plug using an Allen wrench.
- Allow the old fork oil to drain completely.
__Step 3: Replace the drain plugs and add new fork oil.__
- Replace the drain plugs and tighten them securely.
- Use a funnel to add the new fork oil into each fork leg. The recommended oil level is usually marked on the fork tubes.
__Step 4: Reassemble the front wheel and lower the bike.__
- Reinstall the front wheel and lug nuts.
- Tighten the lug nuts securely.
- Lower the bike from the jack and remove the jack stand.
Additional Notes:
- When adding new fork oil, be sure to use the same type and viscosity of oil that is recommended by the motorcycle manufacturer.
- It's also a good idea to inspect the fork seals for leaks while you're changing the fork oil. If you see any leaks, you'll need to replace the fork seals.
