How do you change the wiper motor on a 1999 Jeep Wrangler?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Wiper motor assembly (new)

- 10mm socket and wrench

- Phillips-head screwdriver

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Pliers

- Wire cutters/strippers

- Electrical tape

Procedure:

1. Park your vehicle in a safe location and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down completely if it has been running.

2. Open the hood of your Jeep Wrangler.

3. Locate the wiper motor assembly. It is mounted on the firewall, under the windshield.

4. Disconnect the electrical connections to the wiper motor. There are two electrical connectors: one for the power supply and one for the ground. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the locking tabs on the connectors and then pull them straight up to disconnect them.

5. Remove the bolts holding the wiper motor assembly in place. There are four bolts, two on each side of the motor. Use a 10mm socket and wrench to loosen and remove the bolts.

6. Remove the wiper motor assembly. Once the bolts are removed, you can lift the wiper motor assembly up and out of the vehicle.

7. Transfer the wiper arms to the new wiper motor assembly. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the bolts holding the wiper arms in place. Then, remove the wiper arms and transfer them to the new wiper motor assembly.

8. Install the new wiper motor assembly. Place the new wiper motor assembly into the vehicle and align the mounting holes with the holes in the firewall. Insert the bolts and tighten them with a 10mm socket and wrench.

9. Reconnect the electrical connections to the wiper motor. Connect the power supply connector and the ground connector to the corresponding terminals on the wiper motor. Make sure the connectors are fully seated and the locking tabs are engaged.

10. Close the hood of your Jeep Wrangler and test the wiper motor. Turn on the wipers and make sure they are working properly.

Your Jeep Wrangler's wiper motor should now be successfully replaced!
