To replace the rear main oil seal, you will need to remove the following:
* The oil pan
* The transmission
* The flywheel
Once you have removed these parts, you will be able to access the rear main oil seal. To remove the old oil seal, use a pry bar or screwdriver to gently pry it out of its housing. Be careful not to damage the crankshaft or the oil pan.
To install the new oil seal, use a hammer or press to gently tap it into place. Be sure to seat the oil seal evenly and flush with the housing.
Once the new oil seal is installed, you can reassemble the transmission and the flywheel. Refill the engine with oil and start it up. Check for leaks and make sure that the oil pressure is normal.
Replacing the rear main oil seal is a relatively simple job, but it can be time-consuming. If you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself, you may want to have a qualified mechanic do it for you.
