1. Park your Nissan in a safe location and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake to ensure that the car does not roll while you are working on it.
2. Locate the taillight assembly that contains the burned-out bulb. On most 2000 Nissan models, the taillights are located on the back of the car, just above the bumper.
3. Remove the taillight assembly. There are usually two screws that hold the taillight assembly in place. Remove these screws and carefully pull the assembly out of the car.
4. Locate the brake light bulb. The brake light bulb is usually located at the bottom of the taillight assembly. It is a red bulb with a bayonet-style base.
5. Remove the brake light bulb. To remove the brake light bulb, simply turn it counterclockwise until it comes out of the socket.
6. Install the new brake light bulb. Insert the new brake light bulb into the socket and turn it clockwise until it is snug.
7. Reinstall the taillight assembly. Carefully slide the taillight assembly back into place and secure it with the two screws.
8. Turn on the brake lights and test the new bulb. Turn on the brake lights and check to make sure that the new bulb is working properly.
Tips
* If you are having difficulty removing the taillight assembly, you may need to use a pry tool to gently pry it loose.
* Be careful not to drop the taillight assembly. It is made of glass and could break if it is dropped.
* If you are replacing the brake light bulb in a car that has a cargo cover, you may need to remove the cargo cover to access the taillight assembly.
