Tools and Materials Needed:
- Lug wrench
- Jack and jack stands
- Wheel chocks
- Flathead screwdriver or pry bar
- Brake caliper winding tool
- New rear ABS ring
- Brake cleaner
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Car:
- Park the car on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
- Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheel where you need to replace the ABS ring, but don't remove them completely.
- Place wheel chocks behind the front wheels to prevent the car from rolling.
- Use a jack and jack stands to safely raise the rear of the car, allowing you to remove the wheel.
2. Remove the Wheel:
- Once the car is lifted, use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel. Set the wheel aside.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper:
- Locate the brake caliper on the rear of the wheel hub.
- Remove the two bolts holding the caliper in place using a wrench.
- Be careful not to let the caliper hang by the brake line. You can support it using a bungee cord or rest it on a secure surface.
4. Remove the Old ABS Ring:

6. Install the New ABS Ring:
- Position the new ABS ring onto the wheel hub, ensuring that the teeth or grooves align correctly with the sensor.
- Press the ABS ring into place by hand, making sure it is seated properly and fully engaged.
7. Reassemble the Brake Caliper:
- Reinstall the brake caliper by aligning it with the mounting holes on the wheel hub.
- Secure it with the two bolts you removed earlier.
8. Reinstall the Wheel:
- Put the wheel back onto the hub and tighten the lug nuts by hand.
- Lower the car carefully using the jack and jack stands.
- Tighten the lug nuts with the lug wrench in a star pattern to evenly distribute the force.
9. Test the ABS System:
- Start the car and allow it to idle for a few minutes.
- Gently apply the brakes and test if the ABS system is working properly. You might feel a slight vibration in the brake pedal when the ABS engages.
10. Road Test:
- Once you've reassembled everything, take the car for a short road test to ensure the ABS system is functioning normally.
