1. First, ensure the parking brake switch under your handbrake lever is in disengaged position.
2. Inside your car, underneath your handbrake lever, there is a small access hole covered by a plastic cover. Pry open this plastic cover with a flat screwdriver.
3. Once the cover is removed, you will see the handbrake cable adjuster.
4. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the adjuster and turn it clockwise to tighten the handbrake cable.
5. Continue turning the adjuster until you feel the handbrake is sufficiently tightened to your desired level.
6. Replace the plastic cover to hide the adjuster.
7. Test the handbrake by pulling it up, it should hold the vehicle in place firmly.
Remember, if the handbrake cable is already at its tightest setting and still does not hold the vehicle, it may be necessary to replace the cable or other components of the handbrake system.
