Here's what you'll need:
- A new fan belt (matching the specification for your vehicle)
- A 10mm wrench or socket
- A long pry bar or screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Turn off the engine and let it cool down.
2. Open the hood.
3. Identify the fan belt(s) that need to be replaced. The fan belts are located on the front of the engine, running between the crankshaft pulley and the water pump pulley.
4. Use the pry bar or screwdriver to loosen the tension on the fan belt. Insert the pry bar or screwdriver between the fan belt and the water pump pulley, and gently pry the belt away from the pulley.
5. Once the tension is released, use the wrench or socket to loosen and remove the fan belt bolts.
6. Remove the old fan belt.
7. Install the new fan belt. Loop the new belt around the crankshaft pulley and the water pump pulley, making sure that the belt is seated correctly in the grooves on the pulleys.
8. Use the wrench or socket to tighten the fan belt bolts.
9. Repeat steps 4 through 8 for any additional fan belts that need to be replaced.
10. Close the hood and start the engine. Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations. If everything sounds and feels normal, you're all set.
Note: If you are uncomfortable working on your own vehicle, you can always take it to a qualified mechanic to have the fan belts replaced.
