1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down if it is hot.
2. Open the hood of the vehicle.
3. Locate the EVAP system purge valve. It is usually located near the top of the engine, near the firewall.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the purge valve.
5. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the bolts that hold the purge valve in place.
6. Remove the old purge valve from the vehicle.
7. Clean the purge valve to remove any dirt or debris.
8. Install the new purge valve into the vehicle, using the same bolts that you removed in step 5 to hold it in place. Tighten the bolts to the proper torque specifications.
9. Reconnect the electrical connector to the purge valve.
10. Close the hood of the vehicle.
After you have replaced the EVAP system purge valve, you will need to clear the fault code from the vehicle's computer. You can do this by using a code scanner or by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
