How do you open the trunk of a 1996 Jaguar XJ6 when locked keys inside and have only valet key?

NOTE

* The trunk only works on batteries as the system can’t be switched over unless accessed from inside the car.

1. Go To: Driver's side rear seat

Open the rear door opposite to the driver’s seat and fold the seat back.

2. Lift The Floor Cover

Remove the felt-covered wooden panel with a flat head screwdriver.

3. Access The Trunk Release Solenoid

Find the black box near the bottom right of the opening (circled). This contains the trunk release solenoid that opens the trunk.

4. Connect To The Battery

Pull back the rubber grommet and attach one end of the wire you have connected to the car battery to the terminal on the solenoid.

5. Connect The Trunk Switch

The other end of the wire to the trunk switch inside the rubber boot. Push the trunk release button (not pictured).

6. The Trunk Should Open

When you press the trunk switch the trunk should open.

If you are still unable to open the trunk then you will need a professional to assist.
