Parts needed:
* New oil filter
* New oil (check owner's manual for the correct type and amount of oil)
* Oil drain pan
* Funnel
* Wrench
* Rags
Procedure:
1. Park the car on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Warm up the engine for a few minutes to reach normal operating temperature.
3. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to settle to the bottom of the oil pan.
4. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug, which is located on the bottom of the oil pan.
5. Use the wrench to loosen and remove the drain plug.
6. Allow the oil to drain completely into the oil drain pan. This may take a few minutes.
7. Once the oil has drained, replace and tighten the drain plug.
8. Locate the oil filter, which is usually near the top of the engine.
9. Use the wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
10. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
11. Screw the new oil filter into place and tighten it securely.
12. Use the funnel to add the new oil to the engine. Add the amount of oil specified in the owner's manual.
13. Check the oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
14. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
15. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to settle.
16. Check the oil level again and add more oil if necessary.
Tips:
* Dispose of the old oil and filter properly. Do not pour them down the drain.
* Always use the correct type and amount of oil as specified in the owner's manual.
* Changing the oil and filter is a relatively simple task that can be done in about 30 minutes.
