Luxury Detroit Mansion Reuses Ford GT Plant Materials – $3.75M Innovation

A cool-looking 4,817 sq ft mansion, set on a 1.02-acre lot in Detroit, uses materials from the legendary Ford Wixom Assembly Plant in Michigan, which was in operation for over 50 years from 1957 to 2007. This is the plant from which the legendary Ford GT once rolled out.

The Wixom Plant produced a whopping six million Ford vehicles throughout its tenure, such as luxury Lincoln vehicles and specialty Ford models, including the Lincoln Town Car, Continental, LS, and Mark series, as well as the Ford Thunderbird and the Ford GT.

Built in 2006, the estate in the Bloomfield Hills area is listed for sale on Realtor.com with a $3.75 million price tag. It features stone construction and has four bedrooms. The interior and exterior shout luxury, with the mansion surrounded by water gardens and lush greenery on all sides.

The interior is made up of marble, stone, and reclaimed wood alongside other materials salvaged from the Ford Wixom Assembly Plant. One can find the plant’s materials used in the kitchen cabinets, made from wood taken from the roof of the former plant. The listing states:

“As the spaces flow seamlessly from each comfortable and inviting room to another, no detail has been missed: glistening lighting and soft yet bold finishes are at every turn. Even more impressive is the function of the home boasting elevator, 3 bedrooms, 4.1 baths, fully finished basement with private stairway, kitchen crafted with reclaimed wood from the roof of Henry Ford’s Wixom plant.”

Ford Authority reported comments from Nancy Stockman, who currently owns the mansion. She said:

“Every inch of our home was thoughtfully planned. Our architect and friend Larry Raymond shopped with me for everything, from the marble and cork all the way to the timber beams made of five different species of Michigan hardwood trees.”

It is worth mentioning that Raymond is part of the Albert Kahn Architectural Firm, which was named after the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright, who designed the Ford Rouge Plant located in Dearborn, Michigan, along the River Rouge.

Nancy and her husband, Peter, spent $5 million on the mansion. Unfortunately, Peter passed away just two years after it was built while fighting cancer. This mansion could likely appeal to an automobile enthusiast or a Ford fan, which reminds us not to miss out on an important point – the property features a 3.5-car garage with a workshop.

Speaking of the former Ford plant, it is being used today by General Motors to store and ship car parts.
