The speed sensor on a 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio is located on the driver's side of the transmission. It is a small, cylindrical sensor with a single electrical connector. The sensor is positioned near the top of the transmission, just below the shift linkage.
To replace the speed sensor, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the speed sensor.
2. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt that holds the speed sensor in place.
3. Pull the speed sensor out of the transmission.
4. Clean the O-ring on the speed sensor and the mating surface on the transmission.
5. Apply a small amount of sealant to the O-ring on the speed sensor.
6. Insert the speed sensor into the transmission and tighten the bolt.
7. Reconnect the electrical connector to the speed sensor.
Note: The speed sensor is a sensitive component, so be careful not to drop or damage it.
