Tools Needed:
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Jumper wire (approximately 12 inches long)
Steps:
1. Start the Car: Insert the key and turn the ignition to the "ON" position (engine does not need to be running).
2. Access the Seat Belt Connector: Locate the seat belt buckle, where the seat belt clicks into place. Press the release button to pop open the buckle and remove it.
3. Find Seat Belt Buckle Connector: Underneath the seat belt buckle, you'll see the connector for the seat belt sensor.
4. Remove Seat Belt Buckle Cover: Use the screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the cover of the seat belt buckle connector. Carefully lift the cover to expose the connector.
5. Install Jumper Wire: Connect one end of the jumper wire to the "ground" (black or brown) wire on the connector. Connect the other end to the "sense" (gray) wire on the same connector.
6. Reattach Cover: Replace the cover and secure it with the screws.
7. Fasten Seat Belt: Place the seat belt into the buckle and press down until it clicks in.
8. Test the Chime: Start the engine. Verify that the seatbelt chime no longer sounds when the seat belt is not fastened.
Remember that disabling the seatbelt chime may lead to safety issues, as it is a critical warning that encourages passengers to wear seat belts.
