Do you need car insurance in Ohio if own your car?

In the U.S. state of Ohio, liability car insurance is required for driving a registered vehicle, including vehicles owned by the driver. Ohio Revised Code 4509.01(A)(1) states, "No person shall operate a vehicle upon the public roads or highways in this state unless there is in full force and effect a certificate of insurance complying with the requirements of this chapter issued for such vehicle."
