What is NO BUS on a Chrysler?

"NO BUS" on a Chrysler (or any vehicle with a CAN bus system) indicates a communication problem within the vehicle's network. The CAN bus (Controller Area Network) is the system that allows various electronic control units (ECUs) – like the engine control module (ECM), transmission control module (TCM), anti-lock brake system (ABS) module, etc. – to communicate with each other.

A "NO BUS" message means the vehicle's computer system has lost communication with one or more of these ECUs. This can lead to a wide range of problems, including:

* Malfunctioning gauges: Speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, etc., may not work correctly or at all.

* Check Engine Light (CEL): Almost certainly illuminated.

* Limited or no functionality: Various systems controlled by the affected ECUs might fail (ABS, power steering, traction control, etc.).

* Driveability issues: The car may run poorly, stall, or be undriveable.

The cause of a "NO BUS" error can be anything from a blown fuse or a faulty relay to a damaged wire in the CAN bus system, a failing ECU, or even a more complex electrical fault. It requires proper diagnosis by a mechanic, preferably one familiar with Chrysler vehicles and their CAN bus systems. Simply guessing and replacing parts is unlikely to be successful and could be costly.
