To find it:
1. Consult your owner's manual: This is the best place to start. Even if it doesn't show a picture, it might give a general area.
2. Look underneath the engine: With the vehicle on level ground, locate the engine block. The drain plug is usually a bolt or a plug, often near the lowest part of the block on the passenger side. It may be somewhat hidden behind other components.
3. Look for a low point: The drain plug will be at the lowest point of the cooling system on the block to ensure complete drainage.
4. Feel for a bolt or plug: Run your hand along the bottom of the engine block. Be careful not to burn yourself; the engine may be warm. The plug will likely be a slightly different texture than the rest of the engine block, and it might even have a small square head.
Important: Before draining any coolant, let the engine cool completely to avoid burns. Have a suitable container ready to catch the coolant, and be aware that it may be hot or corrosive. Dispose of used coolant properly according to local regulations.
