The gas cap on a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero opens the same way as most cars: there's a lever inside the car, usually located near the driver's seat, often on the lower part of the dashboard or the center console. It will be clearly marked with a fuel pump symbol (often a circle with a small arrow pointing downwards). Push or pull this lever to release the gas cap.
