There is no number one position on a distributor cap. The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, however, the distributor positions of the spark plug wires are based on model and year. For a 1992 Buick Roadmaster, the wire positions based on the firing order are as follows:
Front of vehicle
1. 2
6. 5
7. 4
3. 8
Rear of vehicle
5. 1
7. 6
4. 3
8. 2
The coil wire would be connected to the terminal marked with a "C".
