What type of transmission fluid should you put on your 96 Honda civic 1.5 automatic transmission?

Honda Genuine CVT fluid 2

* Honda recommends using Honda Genuine CVT fluid 2 for your 1996 Honda Civic 1.5L SOHC VTEC engine with an automatic transmission. Here's a quick guide on how to change the transmission fluid:

1. Gather the necessary tools and materials, including Honda Genuine CVT fluid 2, a new transmission filter (if applicable), a drain pan, a funnel, and a wrench.

2. Prepare your vehicle. Park it on a level surface and engage the parking brake. If possible, raise the vehicle using a car jack and jack stands to make it easier to access the transmission drain plug.

3. Locate the transmission drain plug. It's usually located on the bottom of the transmission pan. Place the drain pan under the plug and remove the plug using the wrench.

4. Allow the old transmission fluid to drain completely into the drain pan. This may take several minutes.

5. Replace the transmission drain plug once all the fluid has drained out.

6. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. It's usually located on the side of the transmission, near the top.

7. Remove the fill plug and insert the funnel.

8. Pour Honda Genuine CVT fluid 2 into the transmission until it reaches the "Full" mark on the transmission fluid dipstick.

9. Replace the transmission fluid fill plug and dipstick.

10. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new transmission fluid.

11. Check the transmission fluid level again and adjust if necessary.

Changing the transmission fluid regularly helps maintain optimal transmission performance and longevity. Always refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for specific instructions and recommendations for your particular model and year.
