- New air filter (check your owner’s manual for the correct size)
- Screwdriver or ratchet
Instructions:
1. Open your Tacoma’s hood. Pull the hood release lever from under your dashboard then lift up and prop open the hood using the support rod.
2. Locate the air filter housing. The air filter housing on your Tacoma is probably a rectangular box located on the passenger side of the engine bay, towards the front of the car.
3. Remove the cover from the air filter housing. The air filter housing will be held shut with plastic clips or screws, depending on your car. You can remove the clips with your fingers or a screwdriver, and you can remove the screws with a screwdriver or ratchet.
4. Take out the old air filter. The old air filter will be inside the housing, in a frame that’s open on one side. Slide out the old air filter by lifting the frame up and pulling the filter towards you.
5. Install the new air filter. Place the new air filter into the frame, making sure that it’s facing the right way. Slide the frame back into the housing, making sure that it snaps into place.
6. Replace the housing cover. Replace the plastic clips or screws that you removed earlier, then close the hood of your Tacoma.
Tips:
* Make sure that the new air filter is the correct size for your car.
* If you can’t find the air filter housing, consult your owner’s manual for help.
* It’s a good idea to change your air filter every 12,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first.
