1. Identify the battery location:
Open the seat of your Burgman 400. The battery is located on the right side of the scooter, behind the fuse box.
2. Remove the battery access cover:
There are two screws that hold the battery access cover in place. Use a screwdriver to remove these screws and take off the cover.
3. Disconnect the battery terminals:
There are two terminals on the battery, a positive (+) and a negative (-). Use a wrench to loosen and remove the negative terminal first, followed by the positive terminal. Take care not to touch the terminals together, as this could cause a spark.
4. Remove the old battery:
Once the battery terminals are disconnected, lift the old battery out of its compartment. Be cautious when handling the old battery, as it may contain harmful chemicals.
5. Clean the battery compartment:
Before installing the new battery, take a moment to clean the battery compartment. Wipe away any dirt or debris using a damp cloth.
6. Insert the new battery:
Carefully lower the new battery into the compartment, ensuring it sits properly. Make sure the terminals are facing up.
7. Reconnect the battery terminals:
Connect the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal. Tighten the nuts or bolts on the terminals securely, but avoid over-tightening them.
8. Replace the battery access cover:
Place the battery access cover back in place and secure it with the screws you removed earlier.
9. Close the seat:
Close the seat of your scooter. The battery replacement process is now complete.
Remember to dispose of the old battery responsibly, following any local regulations or recycling guidelines for hazardous waste.
