How do you Change the differential on an s type jaguar?

Step 1: Prepare your vehicle.

• Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

• Chock the wheels that will not be removed to prevent the vehicle from rolling.

• Raise the vehicle using a jack and jack stands until the wheels are off the ground.

• Remove the lug nuts and wheels from the rear axle.

Step 2: Drain the differential fluid.

• Locate the differential drain plug on the rear axle.

• Place a drain pan under the drain plug and loosen it using a wrench.

• Allow the fluid to drain completely into the pan.

• Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it securely.

Step 3: Remove the differential cover.

• Locate the differential cover on the rear axle.

• Remove the bolts that hold the differential cover in place using a wrench.

• Gently pry the differential cover off the axle housing using a pry bar.

• Be careful not to damage the differential gasket or the cover.

Step 4: Remove the differential pinion shaft.

• Remove the bolts that hold the differential pinion shaft flange to the differential case using a wrench.

• Gently tap the pinion shaft out of the differential case.

Step 5: Remove the differential ring gear.

• Remove the bolts that hold the differential ring gear to the differential case using a wrench.

• Gently pry the differential ring gear off of the differential case.

Step 6: Install the new differential.

• Place the new differential ring gear on the differential case and secure it with the bolts.

• Install the new differential pinion shaft and secure it with the bolts.

• Install the new differential gasket and the differential cover.

Step 7: Add differential fluid.

• Add the recommended amount and type of differential fluid to the differential through the fill hole.

• Reinstall the fill plug and tighten it securely.

Step 8: Reinstall the wheels and lower the vehicle.

• Reinstall the wheels and lug nuts.

• Lower the vehicle using the jack and jack stands.

Step 9: Test drive the vehicle.

• Take the vehicle for a test drive to ensure that the differential is working properly.
