What should a Chevy 305 be set at with timing light?

Set initial ignition timing to 0 degrees before Top Dead Center (TDC) on all 1975 and later 305ci V-8 engines. If you find this setting does not work quite right for your application, you can go up to 4 degree before TDC. This can provide improved performance and fuel efficiency. This ignition timing setting will work on all 1975-92 305ci V-8 engines.
