1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually marked with a red or orange handle and is located near the back of the engine compartment.
3. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
4. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid filler tube and check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
5. If the fluid level is low, add enough transmission fluid to bring it up to the "FULL" mark. Use the type of transmission fluid specified in your owner's manual.
6. Reinsert the dipstick and check the fluid level again.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until the fluid level is correct.
8. Once the fluid level is correct, replace the dipstick and tighten the dipstick cap.
