do you disable the seatbelt alarm on a Chevy Cobalt?

For Chevy Cobalts produced after 2010:

1. Fasten your seat belt and turn the ignition switch to the “Run” position.

2. Release the seat belt and the audible reminder should sound within 5-10 seconds.

3. Immediately refasten the seat belt.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 four times.

The seat belt chime will sound once and the seat belt reminder light will flash for approximately 60 seconds to indicate the seat belt reminder lamp has been turned off.
