How do you change a thermostat on 2005 Chevy Equinox?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Replacement thermostat

- Thermostat housing gasket

- Coolant

- Wrench set

- Pliers

- Screwdriver

- Funnel

- Rags

Instructions:

1. Park your Equinox in a level area and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down completely to avoid burns.

2. Open the hood of your Equinox. Locate the thermostat housing. It is usually located near the top of the engine, near the radiator hose.

3. Loosen the bolts or screws that hold the thermostat housing in place. Use the appropriate wrench or screwdriver for this task.

4. Remove the thermostat housing and gasket. Be careful not to spill any coolant.

5. Remove the old thermostat from the housing. It may be stuck in place, so use the pliers to gently pry it out.

6. Install the new thermostat in the housing. Make sure that it is properly seated.

7. Replace the thermostat housing gasket and bolts or screws. Tighten them securely.

8. Refill the coolant reservoir with the proper type of coolant. Use a funnel to avoid spills.

9. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks around the thermostat housing.

10. Close the hood of your Equinox and you're done!
