Tools and Materials Needed:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flat head screwdriver
- 7mm socket wrench
- 10mm socket wrench
- New ignition lock switch
- Key
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the battery.
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid any electrical accidents during the installation process.
2. Remove the steering column covers.
Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the lower steering column cover in place. Then, use a flat head screwdriver to pry open the upper and lower steering column covers and remove them.
3. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder.
Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position. Use a 7mm socket wrench to loosen the two bolts holding the ignition switch lock cylinder in place. Pull the lock cylinder out of the housing.
4. Remove the old ignition lock switch.
Use a 10mm socket wrench to remove the four bolts holding the ignition lock switch in place. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
5. Install the new ignition lock switch.
Connect the electrical connector to the new ignition lock switch. Insert the switch into the housing and secure it with the four bolts.
6. Reinstall the ignition lock cylinder.
Insert the ignition switch lock cylinder into the housing and secure it with the two bolts.
7. Reattach the steering column covers.
Snap the upper and lower steering column covers back into place. Secure the lower cover with the two screws.
8. Reconnect the battery.
Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
9. Test the ignition switch.
Turn the key in the ignition to make sure the switch is working properly.
10. Enjoy your new ignition lock switch.
