Transmission fluid for 1998 Dodge Intrepid?

ATF+4 transmission fluid

The 1998 Dodge Intrepid uses ATF+4 transmission fluid. This is a synthetic automatic transmission fluid that is specifically designed for use in Chrysler vehicles. It is important to use the correct transmission fluid in your vehicle, as using the wrong type of fluid can cause damage to your transmission.

How to change the transmission fluid in a 1998 Dodge Intrepid

1. Park your vehicle on a level surface.

2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.

3. Open the hood of your vehicle.

4. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually located near the back of the engine, on the driver's side.

5. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.

6. Insert the dipstick back into the transmission until it is fully seated.

7. Pull out the dipstick again and check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.

8. If the fluid level is low, you will need to add some transmission fluid. To do this, remove the fill plug (located on the top of the transmission) and add enough fluid to bring the level to the "Full" mark.

9. Replace the fill plug and dipstick.

10. Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes.

11. Shift the transmission through all of the gears, pausing for a few seconds in each gear.

12. Check the transmission fluid level again and make sure that it is still between the "Full" and "Add" marks.
