2. Locate the air cleaner housing. On the 1998 Buick Lesabre, it is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It is a black plastic box with a large hose attached to it.
3. Unlatch and open the air cleaner cover. There are two latches on the front of the housing, one on each side. Press down on the latches and lift up on the cover to remove it.
4. Remove the old air filter. It is a rectangular piece of paper or foam that is located inside the housing.
5. Inspect the old air filter for dirt and debris. If it is dirty, replace it with a new one.
6. Insert the new air filter into the housing. Make sure that it is seated properly and that there are no gaps around the edges.
7. Close and latch the air cleaner cover.
8. Close the hood of your vehicle.
