1. Open the hood of your 2002 Kia Optima.
2. Locate the engine block. It is the large metal block in the center of the engine compartment.
3. Find the intake manifold. It is the large metal tube that runs from the throttle body to the cylinder head.
4. The EGR valve is located on the underside of the intake manifold. It is a small, round metal valve with two vacuum hoses connected to it.
