How do you change the oil on a 2008 Toyota solara?

Materials Needed:

- New oil filter

- New oil (check your owner's manual for the correct type and amount)

- Oil drain pan

- Funnel

- Wrench

- Rags

Instructions:

1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.

Make sure the engine is cool to the touch to avoid burns.

2. Crawl underneath the car and locate the oil drain plug.

It is usually a 17mm bolt located on the bottom of the oil pan.

3. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug.

Make sure the pan is large enough to catch all of the oil that will drain out.

4. Loosen the oil drain plug with the wrench.

Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.

5. Allow the oil to drain completely.

This may take a few minutes.

6. Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.

7. Locate the oil filter.

It is usually a cylindrical-shaped object near the top of the engine.

8. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter.

Be careful not to spill any oil.

9. Remove the old oil filter and discard it.

10. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.

11. Screw on the new oil filter until it is snug.

12. Remove the oil fill cap.

It is usually located on the top of the engine.

13. Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine.

Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.

14. Replace the oil fill cap.

15. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

Check for any leaks.

16. Turn off the engine and check the oil level.

The oil level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.

Tips:

- If you can't reach the oil drain plug or filter, you may need to raise your car with a jack and jack stands.

- Be careful not to overtighten the oil drain plug or oil filter.

- Dispose of the old oil and filter properly.
