Here is a step by step guide on how to change the oil filter on a 2009 Toyota Corolla:
1. Gather your materials:
* New oil filter
* New oil (check your owner's manual for the correct type)
* Wrench or socket to remove the oil drain bolt
* Oil filter wrench
* Oil pan to catch the old oil
2. Locate the oil filter:
* The oil filter is located on the bottom side of the engine block, on the passenger side.
3. Prepare your workspace:
* If possible use ramps to elevate the front of your car and allow you to easily access the undercarriage.
* If ramps are not an option, you will need to crawl underneath the car. Use a jack to raise the front of the car and secure it with jack stands.
* Make sure you park your vehicle on a level surface.
4. Drain the oil:
* Place the oil pan under the oil drain bolt, which is located at the bottom of the oil pan.
* Use a wrench or socket to loosen the oil drain bolt and let oil drain into the oil pan.
* Allow all of the oil to drain out.
5. Remove the oil filter:
* Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter.
* Be careful not to spill any oil.
6. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
7. Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug.
8. Replace the oil drain bolt.
9. Add new oil to the engine.
* Use a funnel to add the new oil.
* Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.
10. Check the oil level.
* Use the dipstick to check the oil level.
* If necessary add more oil.
