Instructions:
1. Open the hood of your truck and locate the starter. It is usually mounted on the passenger side of the engine, near the bottom.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical accidents.
3. Use a wrench to loosen the nuts holding the starter in place. There are typically two or three nuts.
4. Once the nuts are loose, use a pry bar to gently pry the starter out of its mounting bracket.
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the starter. There will be two or three connectors.
6. Remove the starter from the truck.
7. Install the new starter in reverse order of removal.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
9. Start the truck and test the starter.
Here are some additional tips for changing a starter:
- Be careful not to drop the starter. It is a heavy object and could cause injury if it falls on your foot.
- If you are not comfortable changing the starter yourself, you can take your truck to a mechanic to have it done.
- Starter replacements can be expensive, so it is a good idea to compare prices from different mechanics before you have it done.
