* New clutch cable
* 10mm socket wrench
* 13mm socket wrench
* Flat-head screwdriver
* Pliers
Instructions
1. Park your Neon on a level surface and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake.
2. Open the hood and locate the clutch cable. The clutch cable is a thin metal cable that runs from the clutch pedal to the transmission.
3. Remove the 10mm bolt that secures the clutch cable to the transmission.
4. Remove the 13mm nut that secures the clutch cable to the clutch pedal.
5. Pull the old clutch cable out of the car.
6. Insert the new clutch cable through the firewall and into the transmission.
7. Replace the 10mm bolt and 13mm nut that secure the clutch cable.
8. Adjust the clutch cable until the clutch pedal has about 1/2 inch of free play. To adjust the clutch cable, use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the adjuster nut on the clutch cable. Turn the adjuster nut clockwise to tighten the cable and counterclockwise to loosen the cable.
9. Test the clutch cable by depressing the clutch pedal. The clutch pedal should move smoothly and the transmission should shift gears easily.
