Before beginning, park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine. Ensure that the parking brake is engaged.
1. Locate the battery: The battery is located in the trunk of the Riviera, on the driver's side. It is covered by a black plastic cover.
2. Remove the trunk lid: To remove the trunk lid, press the trunk release button located on the driver's side footwell. The trunk lid will pop open.
3. Remove the battery cover: To remove the battery cover, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry it open. The cover is held in place by two plastic clips.
4. Disconnect the negative battery cable: Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the negative battery cable (marked with a "-") from the battery terminal. Be careful not to let the wrench come into contact with any other metal parts of the car, as this could cause a short circuit.
5. Disconnect the positive battery cable: Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the positive battery cable (marked with a "+") from the battery terminal.
6. Remove the old battery: Once the battery cables have been disconnected, you can remove the old battery from the car. Be careful not to drop the battery, as it is heavy.
7. Install the new battery: Place the new battery in the car, making sure that the positive terminal is facing the positive battery cable and the negative terminal is facing the negative battery cable.
8. Reconnect the battery cables: Reconnect the positive battery cable to the positive battery terminal and the negative battery cable to the negative battery terminal. Tighten the nuts on the battery terminals until they are snug.
9. Replace the battery cover: Replace the battery cover and secure it with the two plastic clips.
10. Close the trunk: Close the trunk lid.
